Dana Loesch Compares Liberals to Mass Shooting Terrorists

Dana Loesch

Demonstrating the absurd lengths the pro-gun NRA crowd will travel to oppose sensible gun regulations, right-wing commentator Dana Loesch compared left-leaning gun control advocates to those who engage in acts of domestic terrorism by murdering people in mass shootings. Her statements appear on a commentary video released on the third anniversary of the Sandy Hook Elementary School mass shooting.

Commenting on the reaction to the recent San Bernardino shooting that claimed the lives of 14 people, Loesch fixated on those who argued that prayer isn’t enough to stop gun violence. In particular, she took offense at the New York Daily News for their “God Isn’t Fixing This” cover story.

Arguing that calling for sensible gun regulations and not prayer “mocked the entire concept of religion,” Loesch called the cover a “coordinated assault” on “our right to believe.” Loesch went on to smugly mock the paper (and the so-called “the Godless Left”) for their apparent knowledge of “God’s will” before segueing into rhetorically abhorrent territory.

“Driven by an unholy arrogance,” Loesch continued (un-ironically using an arrogant voice to convey the thought), “these saboteurs are determined to destroy our history and eviscerate our rights and create a new America in their own image…with no values or principles of which to speak…”

The sentence ran on for quite some time as Loesch demonized those attempting to call for an end to bloodshed and easy access to guns. In Loesch’s (and the NRA’s) mind, sensible regulations such as enhanced background checks somehow equate to lawlessness and moral depravity.

And then Loesch (in true right-wing conspiracy theory spirit) brought in Benghazi. Because of course. Despite the fact that not one GOP-led Congressional committee could indict Hillary Clinton on a single charge of wrongdoing, dangerous ideologues like Loesch continue to capitalize on the fear mongering invoking the word “Benghazi” creates.

Thereafter, Loesch somehow even managed to shoehorn the so-called “War on Christmas” into the commentary for good measure.

The pièce de résistance arrived when Loesch discussed the San Bernardino shooting. Referring to the “Godless Left”, Loesch argued, “These saboteurs share the same fanatical fervor to tear apart the foundations of America as the terrorists who threaten our very survival. And together, they march hand-in-hand toward the possible, purposeful destruction of us all.”

And with that, Loesch began the next round of political demonization – the very same demonization that led a man to shoot up the Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood clinic after right wing leaders continued spreading lies about “baby parts”. How long will it be before a “good guy with a gun” murders someone on the “Godless Left” for (as Loesch literally said), “march[ing] hand-in-hand” with terrorists?
