A Very Public Letter from #TGDN Supporter Sara Marie Brenner - And My Response

Sara Marie Brenner
Sara Marie Brenner
On my entry last night where I pointed out the in-fighting among two formerly-friendly conservatives (that would show further evidence of the flailing impending failure of the #TGDN conservative effort to band together conservatives), I called out an Ohio politician famous for "snark" and "rabble-rousing." Sara Marie Brenner - city council woman in Powell, OH (a Columbus suburb) and wife of Ohio State Rep. Andrew Brenner - found herself in the precarious position of dealing with the rabid, absolutist conservatives she formerly praised. Why? She dared take a cenrtist position on one topic. While in days past this would be nothing new for either party, the current state of the Republican/Tea Party leaves no room for compromise or centrism. And she found that out the hard way. Lest you think she's the victim in this though, here's the response she wrote to my entry posted last night

Tim, I was never fired from Red State Talk Radio. I resigned for a number of reasons. No evidence exists to support your claim, unless it's something else you've fabricated or twisted to your own convoluted meaning. And, I never even "rigged" any voting process. A friend of mine on Facebook encouraged people to vote multiple times, and admitted as such. Yet, you've left that little part out here.
You continue to spread lies about the reasoning behind liens (probably because you don't like it when people stand up to the government). You stalk my twitter timeline despite being blocked and asked to leave me alone (harassment!), and then yesterday there were a few conservatives who went after me for my views. There were also many who supported me. I would think that as a rabid leftist you would celebrate differing view points and praise me for having my owns views. But no, you find a way to twist that, as well.
There is not a #TGDN breakdown -- there is a breakdown in truth (coming from you and others on Twitter), and a breakdown in ending the divisiveness, which you serve only to further encourage and advance. What is your ultimate goal, anyway? As a liberal celebrating Obama, don't you want us all to work together? Where's YOUR act of reaching across the aisle as Obama said we all should do in his inaugural speech?
I'm sure you'll tear apart this comment, as well, if you don't take it down altogether, because you have no interest in working together as a nation to move forward (I can use Obama's slogan word, too) -- you've demonstrated that time and again. Divisiveness is not a strategy that leads to any type of success, and given your own personal interests I would think that you would realize that. All you're doing is hurting yourself by continuing to try to destroy others.
My goal is to advance this nation so that we can provide jobs in the private sector, a strong economy, freedom, and liberty for all. I believe the best way to do that is through the conservative platform. However, I also believe in working together with others if it forwards our goal as a nation to improve everyone's situation, keep the freedom and liberty to which we are each entitled (not by the government, but by God), and to respect the Constitution. In order for us to do this, it means that people have to stop being militant, work together, and find common ground on issues where we can move forward. These are my goals.
So, Tim, what are YOUR goals, and how is what you're doing helping you to achieve any of them?
Even in the face of defeat, she chooses to go down fighting, it seems. Here's how I responded - but here I'll include many of the notations, references and links I couldn't in the comment:

Sara, let's break down your response piece by piece.

Red State Talk Radio
Tim, I was never fired from Red State Talk Radio. I resigned for a number of reasons. No evidence exists to support your claim, unless it's something else you've fabricated or twisted to your own convoluted meaning. - Actually, I was privy to the email chain where your termination was discussed among the other radio hosts involved in the contest. While it did indicate you later sent a "resignation" letter, it was after you had already been severed from the organization.  Side note: if she really wants to push this point, I'll publish the email chain where the radio network organizer said as much. I previously redacted that from the original entry
A friend of mine on Facebook encouraged people to vote multiple times, and admitted as such. Yet, you've left that little part out here. - I left out the full explanation since it is linked in two parts above. I trust my readers' ability to click through and do the appropriate back reading and judge for themselves. The most important part of your "defense" is your acknowledgement that you knew your friend was doing this - going so far as to promote the activity both on Facebook as well as Twitter. You were informed by the organizer of the contest that this sort of activity was against the rules - and I know this since I saw the email chain that admonished you because for breaking the rules you knew were established and agreed upon from day one. Side Note: It was actually three parts - I only linked two of them. Here they are again: #1   #2   #3
City of Powell
You continue to spread lies about the reasoning behind liens (probably because you don't like it when people stand up to the government). You stalk my twitter timeline despite being blocked and asked to leave me alone (harassment!), and then yesterday there were a few conservatives who went after me for my views. There were also many who supported me. I would think that as a rabid leftist you would celebrate differing view points and praise me for having my owns views. But no, you find a way to twist that, as well. - Truth be told I was surprised by your centrist-leaning position on the subject. I was actually tipped off by one of your Powell, Ohio constituents via email since you are followed heavily online by those people you've sworn to represent (though it seems you don't too frequently). They email me anytime they see something of interest. I don't regularly track your feed any longer until someone brings something to my attention. As for your tax liens I will defer to the attorney you work with in Powell, Ohio where you serve. Councilman Counts pointed out to you and your peers that you did one of three things that resulted in a lien: (1) embezzlement (2) contractor/employee dispute (3) you simply didn't pay your taxes. Given that you wrote a check and paid for the outstanding liens, and received a lien release it would indicate you indeed were guilty of either #2 or #3 at a minimum. If I had to speculate, I would imagine you called an employee a contractor and tried not to cover their tax burden - which is why you've been sued at least twice by former employees in court. Side Note: Here are the two lawsuits I mentioned:   #1   #2
- Could've fooled anyone looking in from the outside. Nearly half of Todd's tweets concerning #TGDN are now defending the failing effort. Especially since he was caught red-handed twice encouraging #TGDN followers to spam-report en masse. And I do reach across the aisle - to those that would actually work rather than use divisive language and Mitch McConnell-esque tactics. I support ending #TGDN and the false-reporting of legitimate liberal accounts. Furthermore I'm a private citizen (unlike you, who represents constituents). I vote for the people who will work across the aisle on my behalf. That's how representative democracy works. Also, thanks to the First Amendment, I can criticize you as much as I want. Side Note: In case you missed it, here is the leader of #TGDN telling everyone to spam-report accounts: Instance #1   Instance #2
Divisiveness is not a strategy that leads to any type of success, and given your own personal interests I would think that you would realize that. All you're doing is hurting yourself by continuing to try to destroy others. - You do a good enough job of tearing down your arguments all by yourself, Sara. I just come in after the destruction and point out the hilarity of your mess. Each of these situations are your own doing - from the Smart Girl Politics business model to the radio contest - you got yourself into each of these situations on your own.
- Fortunately for me, Obama was re-elected by a landslide showing the nation decided a liberal, not a conservative mandate is preferred in solving the issues conservatives created over the course of nearly a decade with proven failed policies like "trickle-down economics." And that freedom and liberty? It's endowed by the people, not a singular religious deity. Reread your First Amendment. And I agree that people need to begin working together - beginning with the Republicans in the House that continue to propose insane legislation in an effort to avoid actual reform. Why don't you write Boehner and tell him to focus on jobs rather than spending millions in taxpayer money on the defense of DOMA and trying to fight the Violence Against Women Act?
So, Tim, what are YOUR goals, and how is what you're doing helping you to achieve any of them? - Funny you should mention that. I voted for Democrats in the last election that will support a robust economy, fight for socially progressive legislation, and attempt to bring us into at least the top ten countries globally once more in things like education and health care.

The most interesting part of her response isn't in what she did say so much as what she neglected to address: her former supporter turned rabid-enemy. She refused to acknowledge that he and others like him are tearing both #TGDN as well as the Republican Party as a whole apart. It's just as well - that would require acknowledging weakness and the need for a course correction - something conservatives aren't too famous for.
